Bio

Xabier Oró was born in Barcelona. A few years later, he moved to Premià de Mar, where he began to play guitar supported by his uncle and he found his love for music.

After he attending different music schools, he was enrolled at l’Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz (Fundació Conservatori del Liceu) in Barcelona. He was awarded with a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, based on his own academic merits after he finished Summa Cum Laude the Guitar Degree. Later he studied the «Barcelona Jazz Master Degree» at Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC).

He has collaborated with artists and musicians from different styles, showing his personal and unclassifiable playing between rock, jazz and fusion.

Some of the artist who influenced him the most are Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, Mike Moreno, Lage Lund, Charles Altura, John Scofield, Scott Henderson, Tim Miller, Avishai Cohen, Brad Mehldau, E.S.T. and Janek Gwizdala, some others.

With a style and voice all of his own, Oro easily transcends various musical genres with ease. The unique blend between the visceral quality and elegance of his style is anything but commercial.

Otherwise in more noteworthy and demanding compositions that require both natural skill and experience, he highlights himself for his flexibility, passion, taste and consistency in music.

Xabi has received mentorship of great artists like Tim Miller, Mick Goodrick , David Fiucynsky, David Gilmore, Jerry Bergonzi, Ed Tomassi, Dave Santoro, Bret Wilmott, Gary Willis, and Rick Dimuzio.
